Most FinTech-focused funds lack the hard-tech and energy networks. Most deep-tech funds lack the financial-infrastructure depth. Evernet Capital was built at the intersection.
Forty-plus years leading technology-driven growth, capital markets, and strategic innovation across financial services and technology. Mark's career has spanned the financial and information layers of the economy through three architectural shifts.
He began in corporate banking at Union Bank and TD Securities USA — tech-lending in the late 1980s and 1990s — where he authored the bank's strategic paper on the convergence of computers, telecom, and semiconductors. That 1994 thesis segmented the emerging industry into three substrates (Platform, Content, and Conduit) and screened a 230-company universe down to the names that became the infrastructure of the era: Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Apple, Oracle, HP. The screen worked. The discipline travels.
At CME Group he played a key role in the IPO, executed $20B+ in M&A, structured CME's cleared interest-rate swaps business, and founded CME Ventures. He later served as President & CEO of Wickr through its acquisition by AWS. He is currently a Partner at Alsop Louie Partners, with board seats across financial infrastructure, solid-state batteries, and advanced materials.
More than a decade advancing cleaner, more efficient energy technologies. Rick brings the partnership its deep technical fluency in energy and materials science, and leads an advisory consortium supporting high-quality emerging companies.
He was previously a venture investment analyst specializing in battery and materials science, and co-founded a materials company holding globally recognized patents in nanomaterials for battery, solar, and aerospace applications. That work built him a curated consortium of scientists, engineers, and operators across the venture and scientific communities — a sourcing network unusual for a generalist deep-tech fund.
Rick's work anchors the Advanced Energy and Advanced Materials families — and the cross-pollinations into Compute and Human/Machine Interfaces, where a materials-science breakthrough can make a previously infeasible product suddenly feasible. Aligning capital, expertise, and transformative clean-tech innovation.
Evernet Capital is built on the institutional infrastructure of Alsop Louie Partners — ALP Management provides fund administration, compliance, and audit support that gives LPs the comfort of a much larger firm.
It also gives the partnership a deal-flow surface that is hard to replicate: Alsop Louie's portfolio relationships, its intelligence-community-rooted reach across cybersecurity, gaming, deep tech, and aerospace, and the Venture Humanism orientation the firm is known for — accountable AI with safeguards built in.
With 10–12 holdings, each portfolio company will get the same kind of genuine board-level attention rather than portfolio dilution. Evernet's small-and-focused structure is a feature, not a constraint.
